It is the first day of Summer in Australia.
Where the hell am I? Freezing to death in this awful Winter Weather. 50 degrees Sheesh!!!
Switching gears...
Years ago, I would get chewed out by EVERYONE for surfing alone. You know the whole concept of the buddy system? Not a bad idea. I just like to be alone in the water sometimes. Sorry....I still am guilty.
I discovered my daughter doing the same thing when she turned 16.
Me: Did you just Ace (Surf Alone) that session?
Kel-Puf: Yes Daddy, it was epic...
Me: F@*kin Aye Kid!!! Are you F***ing crazy?! I didn't realize you went alone. What the hell were you thinking?
Kel-Puf: I just had to go Daddy...It was gnarfinkle.
Time to gravitate this into a Biblical parable even though I am a lowly sinner at best.
"Ah, Lord Jehovah! You have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and stretched out arm. Nothing is too great for You. You show loving-kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their sons (children) after them." - Jeremiah Chapter 32 Verse 17-18
Does this apply to us?
Perhaps, although as many folks who paraphrase the Bible this would be taken way out of context as well.
Something to think about however. One thing is for sure.
My daughter is the girly version of me....UGH!!!!
Peace be the keeper,
Bobby
We are all lowly sinners! I like your Bible paraphrase!
ReplyDeleteSee this is why I kept secrets from my boys. Heaven forbid they might do what I had done.
ReplyDeleteRos
Bobby, I have not witnessed you and religion mix. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteBe careful surfing alone. Many people would miss you if something happened.
Put on a big huge sweatshirt....you will be warmer in this "chilly" weather...Or build a fire and soak in the energy. I know, nothing beats the feeling of hot sun on your head, and the rush of the cool water...I don't even swim.
Time to empty the dishwasher...
Great thought for the day!!!!! I never get in the water alone. But I love to just go sit on the beach, listen to the sound of the waves. Especially when they are bigger and make that crashing sound. I find that so darn awesome.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't like the winter but this year I'm focusing on the good in the season. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHey Bobby! 50 farenheit is 10 celcius, which up here is a beautiful and downright balmy day for winter, lol! I miss the smell of the ocean, but I'm not one to actually get into it. I used to love searching for the perfect piece of drift wood, and in winter it was awesome, for me anyways, to just sit on one of the giant logs on the beach and watch the water....take care Bobby, hope everything is great in your world!
ReplyDeleteRoughly translated in the vernacular of many a preacher "The sins of the father's are visited upon their sons...."
ReplyDeleteI am not a religious fanatic but in my early youth I thought I may want to be a preacher. That thought has faded as questions became greater than the answers...
I get it. Tough teaching evolution when you have innocent 11 year olds who have strong faith sitting in front of you.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I see you when I visited Oz recently? Is it something I said?
ReplyDeleteIt is such a wonderful thing to share with your daughter; sure, it may be dangerous, but if she's as much like you as you say, can't you trust her to be as careful as you are?
